Ayurveda System

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a 5000 year old traditional system of health from India. The word Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit word for life (Ayur) and knowledge or science (Veda). Together, they form the term Ayurveda which can be interpreted as the knowledge or science of life.

The philosophy of this incredible system revolves around balance. The mind, body and spirit all have to be in harmony in order to achieve positive health results. This philosophy can be further broken down into 3 distinct elements or principles called Doshas (life forces or energies).

  1. Vata (air)
  2. Pitta (fire)
  3. Kapha (earth and water)

So even in hair care, Ayurveda takes a holistic approach in achieving natural healthy hair. In simple terms, you need to:

  1. Use natural hair care products
  2. Eat a healthy and green diet
  3. Relax, be positive and workout

Ayurvedic tips for healthy hair growth

  • Cleanse hair and scalp
To maintain healthy hair, keep your scalp clean in order to avoid itchiness and clogging of hair follicles. Always use a gentle and natural shampoo every other day. Wash your hair with lukewarm instead of really cold water. Make sure to follow that up with a natural conditioner. Afterwards, allow your hair to dry naturally. Don’t forget to trim your hair in order to tame split ends.
  • Get enough sleep
Sometimes hair grays prematurely at a younger age due to inadequate sleep. To avoid this it is recommended to get at least 6 hours of sleep. When it comes to the health of your hair, enough sleep is as paramount as nutrients are to your body. Disruption to your body clock could alter significant processes. You run the risk of negatively impacting tissue repair and other system reorganization processes. This could lead to unhealthy hair or even loss.
  • Adapt healthy
